    Leading Austrian companies ready to invest in Sri Lanka

    The Austrian Chamber of Commerce confirm several leading companies in Austria ready to make investments in Sri Lanka.

     

    These companies participating a business meeting headed by President Maithripala Sirisena on yesterday (19) in Viana have expressed interest.

     

    The meeting aimed at increasing of the bilateral relations of the two countries in the fields of trade, tourism and education.

     

    A large number of representatives from leading companies participating in this meeting explained about their projects which are currently carried out in Sri Lanka. They also have presented the plans of the new projects to be commenced in Sri Lanka in the future.

     

    At present the trade value between the Sri Lanka and Austria is amount 95 million euros and it was further revealed that now this situation is becoming more favorable to the Sri Lankan side.

     

    President Maithreepala Sirisena addressing the gathering said that the Sri Lanka expectation is to move forward with the friendly nations like Austria.

     

    He said that he also expected to increase the trade turnover between the two countries in the coming years and to expand the trade ties with Austria as Ceylon tea and Ayurveda products have become a significant attraction for Austrian tourists.

     

    Ministers Mangala Samaraweera, Ravi Karunanayake, Daya Gamage, the Chairman of the Board of Investments, Upul Jayasuriya, and others participated in this event.
