This is the first time a National Jamboree is being held in the Northern Province. The event also coincides with 100 years of scouting in Jaffna. Around 200 foreign scouts and leaders from Nepal, India, Malaysia and Bangladesh are also participating in the event.

At the event President Sirisena recognized the scout leaders including the Commissioner Nimal de Silva who dedicate themselves to the scout organization in Sri Lanka.

Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran, new Governor of Northern Province Reginald Cooray and Minister of education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam were also present.
