The Consumer Affairs Authority has launched a special programme of raids from March 20 ahead of the Sinhala and Hindu New Year to prevent unfair trade practices.
Director Asela Bandara made these remarks at a media briefing held at the Department of Government Information.
Inspections will continue until April 30, including weekends and holidays, targeting hoarding, overpricing, expired goods, and failure to display prices or issue bills.
Warehouses, wholesale outlets, gas distributors, and fuel stations will be closely monitored to ensure continuous supply.
Consumers can report complaints via the hotline 1977.
