Four spill gates of the Thabbowa Reservoir in the Mee Oya River Basin were opened by one foot each by noon today to control rising water inflows.
As a result, water is being released into the Mee Oya at a rate of 880 cubic feet per second.
Residents living downstream of the reservoir and along both banks of the Mee Oya are urged to remain vigilant and follow updates issued by the Irrigation Department and Disaster Management authorities.
