A residential training workshop for trainers, aimed at establishing district-level training pools to raise awareness among local officials and other stakeholders about the ‘Praja Shakthi’ National Movement for Poverty Eradication, is being held today (25) and tomorrow (26) at the Management Development Training Unit, Eastern Province.
A discussion aimed at formulating a structured plan to resolve the issues faced by paddy farmers was held this morning (25) at the Presidential Secretariat. The meeting was chaired by Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation, K.D. Lalkantha and Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development Wasantha Samarasinghe.
Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya stated that special attention must be directed towards ensuring the quality and safety of early childhood education for children in a critical age group and further emphasized the need to establish a systematic programme aligned with the National Early Childhood Development Curriculum Framework, to be implemented through government-registered Early Childhood Development Centres staffed with properly trained teachers.

Emphasising that every citizen of the country must have the freedom to live while respecting all religious and cultural identities, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that the Government will not allow Sri Lanka to fall into any form of racist trap.
