The national programme titled “Surakimu Lanka”, designed to encourage the public to use energy sparingly, was officially launched today (29).
An Indian vessel carrying a consignment of fuel has arrived at the Colombo Port today (29), according to the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation.
Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya made these remarks while participating in the book launch ceremony of “Intimidated” authored by Professor Suranga Nanayakkara, Head of Department at the National University of Singapore, held on 28 March 2026 at the Lotus Hall of BMICH.
A QR code system to be introduced for agricultural lands and other sectors requiring fuel
The Prime Minister, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, stated that it is the government’s objective to establish an education system that ensures every child has access to modern technological opportunities.
As part of efforts to modernize Sri Lanka’s railway service, a new ticketing system along with advanced ticket inspection equipment will be introduced across railway stations islandwide, Deputy Minister of Highways Dr. Prasanna Gunasena said.
The government has implemented a special programme to ensure the continuous supply of fuel to all industries, including construction, manufacturing, exports, and services, Secretary to the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Thilaka Jayasundara said.
