President Anura Kumara Dissanayake took steps yesterday (22) to establish a Salaries and Pensions Commission, chaired by retired Ministry Secretary Mr Asoka Peiris, with the primary objective of providing solutions to existing issues regarding the salaries and pensions of public sector employees and pensioners. Accordingly, the President has acted to establish this commission via Extraordinary Gazette Notification No. 2494/05, dated 22nd June 2026.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has appointed J. M. U. K. Jayasekera as the Chief Secretary of the Sabaragamuwa Province.
In parallel with the national programme currently being implemented to combat the rapidly spreading dengue outbreak, a special dengue prevention drive has been planned for 24, 25 and 26 June under the coordination of the Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat.
