President Anura Kumara Dissanayake took steps yesterday (22) to establish a Salaries and Pensions Commission, chaired by retired Ministry Secretary Mr Asoka Peiris, with the primary objective of providing solutions to existing issues regarding the salaries and pensions of public sector employees and pensioners. Accordingly, the President has acted to establish this commission via Extraordinary Gazette Notification No. 2494/05, dated 22nd June 2026.
