The Government of Switzerland has expressed its willingness to support youth development initiatives in Sri Lanka, according to Swiss Ambassador Siri Walt.
The Ambassador made these remarks during a special discussion held yesterday (24) with Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Sunil Kumara Gamage.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to place greater focus on vocational training programmes for the youth. It was also agreed to work jointly between the Ministry and the Swiss Government to implement such initiatives with Switzerland’s support.
The discussions further focused on strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as exploring new programmes that could be introduced for the development of Sri Lanka’s youth.
The Minister also stated that the present government is committed to transparency and is ready to collaborate on any programme aimed at enhancing the skills of Sri Lankan youth, enabling them to become a workforce that meets global market demands.
