Seventeen families displaced in the Unifield Estate at Kotagala, Hatton were vested with houses at a ceremony held under the patronage of Parliamentarian Mailvanagam Thilakaraj and in the presence of State Minister P. Radhakrishnan. These 17 estate houses were built under the one hundred day programme of the new Government for displaced families.
The Ministry of Up Country New Villages, Infrastructure and Community Development had spent 1.2 million rupees on each house consisting of a sitting room, two bedrooms and a kitchen. Each housing unit has a floor space of 750 square feet.
The families have also been provided with drinking water, electricity and sanitary facilities in addition to a road network.
