    National Action Committee meeting daily Featured

    All Sri Lankans being brought back from the Coronavirus epidemic epicentre in Wuhan city, China, are being sent for immediate quarantine, observation and testing at a special facility set up at the Army Cantonment, Diyatalawa, Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi announced yesterday.


    The arriving Sri Lankans, mainly students, will be under quarantine in individual rooms at the facility for at least 14 days, the Minister explained.Chinese nationals will henceforth be required to obtain online visa to visit the country, the Minister said. The visa on arrival facility has been temporarily halted for Chinese nationals.
    Addressing media at the Government Information Department Auditorium in Colombo yesterday Wanniarachchi said that the Immigration authorities would issue visas to them after considering details of their visa applications forwarded online from China prior to their arrival here. This step has been taken by the Sri Lankan Government considering the current Coronavirus epidemic
    Minister Wanniarachchi said the National Action Committee is meeting daily to discuss measures needed to be taken to fight the virus threat and ensure public safety. “Everything is being done according to the guidelines and regulations recommended by the World Health Organisation and Sri Lankan experts,” the Minister said. She thanked the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) for its support.
