    A representative consortium of over 60 Sri Lanka's most leading indigenous medical practitioners at the invitation of the Health Ministry and Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) who assembled at Rajagiriya NOCPCO this afternoon (5), were invited to immediately explore possibilities of finding an alternative traditional medicine to cure COVID-19 pandemic through age-old 'Hela Wedakama', practised for many centuries in the island-nation in keeping with 'Ayurveda' and 'Siddha' systems.

    The curfew imposed in the high-risk areas such as Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Puttalam, Kandy and Jaffna districts will be in effect until further notice.

    Under the current situation faced by the country all health sector units, security units and all officers at the regional level are working with utmost dedication and with the contribution of the state officials the country’s state mechanism is functioning most effectively, said the Director-General of the Government Information Department Nalaka Kaluwewa, addressing a media briefing at the Government Information Department  (06).

    The Army has so far released a total of 279 quarantined individuals from Jaffna and Kundasale Quarantine Centres after the two-week quarantine process.
