    Students while studying should strive to be good citizens rich in moral value - President

    When the government is fully committed to fulfill their responsibility of developing the education sector of the country, it is the responsibility of students to pay full attention to their studies and to be better citizens who are rich in moral values, said President Maithripala Sirisena.

    He made these remarks participating in a ceremony to declare open the ENCO 2016 educational exhibition at the Eheliyagoda National College, on January 13.

     

    The President further said that during the past one year the government was able to develop infrastructure facilities of the schools across the country and was able to provide human resources required for many schools.

     

    The President pointed out the importance of educating the children how to face challenges in a similar way we teach how to pass examinations in an environment where the suicide rate of the country has increased.

     

    Subsequently, the President after declare opening the exhibition, joined to see the exhibition. He was also engaged in a friendly discussions with the students.

     

    Minister of Education, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Minister Thalatha Athukorala, Chief Minister of Sabaragamuwa Province,Maheepala Herath, Deputy Minister, Dunesh Gankanda, Pavithra Wanniarachchi MP, Chairman of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council, Kanchana Jayarathna, the staff of the school including the Principal, parents and others participated in the event.
