Inauguration ceremony of the Third Year of Sustainable Era national program was held yesterday at BMICH under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe with the participation of the Chief Minister of Andra Pradesh Sri Chandrababu Naidu.
The ceremony also marked the completion of President Maithripala Sirisena’s first two years in office; he was elected on 8th January 2015.
Parallel to the occasion, a newspaper cartoon exhibition was held and the ‘Shrama Shakthi’ website was also launched. The shrama shakthi is a program initiated by the government to uplift 15,000 rural areas island-wide.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
