    NARA engaged in research work to identify Jelly Fish species Featured

    Officials of NARA and the Marine Environment Protection Authority are carrying out a research to determine the type of Jelly Fish that is being found in Matara, Polhena Beach.They have collected live samples of Jelly Fish to identity the species of these Jelly Fish.

    As it was found that these jelly fish in the Polhena coastal belt are of the poisonous variety, this coastal belt was declared a prohibited area. With the banning of this sea belt, groups that are affiliated to the tourism industry are facing grave hardships and dire consequences.

     

    Therefore, the people of the area has requested the authorities to lift the ban at the earliest to enable them to carry out their businesses as usual.
