The Fort Magistrate on Saturday issued a detention order for the 14 foreign national arrested in connection with the large haul of heroin seized from the southern coast on 1st April.
Earlier, 110 kilograms of heroin has been seized and 11 suspects have been arrested in a joint operation by the Sri Lanka Navy and Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB), which was carried out in the Southern Seas. Three more suspects were arrested inland when further investigations were carried out by the PNB.
According to reports the haul of heroin was on aboard a shipping vessel headed to Sri Lanka. The 11 suspects include, 10 Iranians and a Pakistani national.
