Around 1.5 million devotees visited Anuradhapura during the 2015 Poson Week which commenced on May 30 and concluded on June 5 and environment pollution was minimal this year, Government Agent G.P.D. Kumarasiri said.
Also drowning or traffic accidents were not reported during the 2015 Poson Week in Anuradhapura, he said.
He also said that the ban imposed on alcohol and cigarettes in sacred cities were adhered by all pilgrims. Kumarasiri said a heavy traffic jam was also not observed during the season in Anuradhapura and Mihinthale as experienced in the past years.
