    It is a friendship beyond diplomacy - PM Modi

    Sri Lanka and India has a friendship beyond diplomatic relations and this result in broadening the bilateral ties between the two countries, said Indian PM Narendra Sri Modi.


    Hosting a luncheon to his visiting Sri Lankan counterpart Ranil Wickremeisnghe at Hydrabad Palace in New Delhi on Wednesday, Premier Modi pointed out that the personnel friendship between them was also very important.


    Both Prime Ministers held detailed discussions on the measures that could be taken for the progress of the economic, defense, law and order, trade, technical, industrial, services, and health sectors.

     

    Keeping of a Free Naval Transportation Zone in the Indian Ocean was also discussed.


    During further talks, both leaders discussed the importance of the contribution of all SAARC member states to eliminate terrorism and bringing in peace. The active and effective remaining of the SAARC organization would be very important for the sustainable development, and peace in the region. The difficulties, the SAARC is currently facing was also taken into attention.


    To bring a solution for the fishermen’s issue faced by both countries, on coming 5th November there will be a high level ministerial meeting in New Delhi.


    PM Modi promised PM Wickremesinghe to send a reply soon to the invitation extended to him to participate the International Vesak Festival to be held in Sri Lanka as the Chief Guest.
