South Korea is ready to share its know-how on industrial, business and Information Technology since it has made great strides in these fields today, South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung Wha said yesterday. She made this observation during a meeting with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Mariot Hotel in Hanoi on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum held at the National Convention Centre in Vietnam.

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Seoul and the Nations Trust Bank jointly conducted a series of five workshops on entrepreneurial education targeting Sri Lankan employees in the Republic of Korea, in Cheonan, Gimhae, Gimpo, Ulsan and Ansan regions from 11 to 19 August 2018.The workshops comprised a specialized programme on entrepreneurial education launched by the Embassy in conjunction with its customary Diriya Maga Awareness Raising and Counseling Programme, to enhance knowledge of financial management and entrepreneurship among returning Sri Lankan employees in order to facilitate their smooth re-integration into the productive labour force of home country. For the first time, the programme introduced a series of focused lectures by a qualified resource person,i.e., Senior Lecturer of Wayamba University of Sri Lanka Dr. D. Aminda Methsila Perera, who made succinct presentations on financial management, savings, investment and entrepreneurial skills including how to start a small business, to Sri Lankan employees.
The Chief of Army Land Forces Seminar 2018 (CALFS18), the biennial conference of the Australian Army which draws national and international partners together to consider the role of future land forces recently honoured Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Sri Lanka Army by inviting him to deliver the keynote address at the inaugural CALFS18 session in Adelaide Convention Centre, South Australia on Tuesday (Sept 4).

Minister of Higher Education and Cultural Affairs of Sri Lanka, Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe told the UN General Assembly on 05 September 2018 that Education is vital in promoting a culture of peace. The Minister was speaking at the High Level Forum for a Culture of Peace convened by the President of the General Assembly.
The Member States of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) met in Colombo on 4-5 September, 2018 and finalized the Terms of Reference (ToR) at an initial workshop held for the setting up of the Working Group on Maritime Safety and Security. At the 17th Council of Ministers held in Durban, South Africa in 2017, it was decided that Sri Lanka will coordinate the implementation of the IORA Action Plan 2017-2021 on Maritime Safety and Security that includes, amongst others, the establishment of the Working Group on Maritime Safety and Security.
Sri Lanka taking over the Presidency in the 9th Meeting of the States Parties to the Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM) said it would do all that is possible to strive towards a world free of cluster munitions.
