Inflation, as measured by the change in the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI) (2013=100), which is compiled by the Department of Census and Statistics (DCS), decreased to 7.3 per cent in December 2017 from 8.4 per cent in November 2017, on year-on-year basis. This decrease is due to the high base prevailed in December 2016.
Exports continued to record growth momentum for eight of 11 months of 2017 compared to 2016, the Exports Development Board (EDB) says. According to the EDB the earnings from exports increased to USD 10.4 billion, an impressive growth of 10.82% in Jan-Nov 2017, compared to the corresponding period of 2016 as per the latest released provisional merchandise export statistics.
