Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday (01) participated in a religious ceremony at Jayawardene Center in Colombo organized to mark the 19th death anniversary of late President J. R. Jayewardene.
President Jayewardane was born in 1906 ruled the country from 1978 to 1989 as the first Executive President of Sri Lanka and passed away in 1996.
The late President Jayewardane's wife Elina Jayewardane's death anniversary was also commemorated on the occasion.
Family members of the late President, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya and other distinguished guests were present.
