The Seventieth Session of the WHO Regional Committee for South –East Asia commenced yesterday (6th Sept.) in Maldives under the patronage of Maldivian Fisheries and Agricultural Minister Dr. Mohamed Shainee.
Health Ministers from South- East Asian countries, Director General of WHO Dr. Tedros Adhanom, and Regional Director Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh also participated on this occasion.
Sri Lankan Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senarathne delivered the inaugural address of the session and explained the health situation of the country.
Minister Senaratne was the 69th Chairman of the Regional Committee.
