    Missing Persons Commission Concludes 8th Public Sitting in Mullaitivu

    Presidential Commission to Investigate into Complaints Regarding Missing Persons has concluded its eighth round of public sittings in Mullaitivu. From the 231 complainants who were invited, a total of 172 submitted evidence to the Commission at this sitting.

    This time, the public sittings took place at the Maritimepattu Divisional Secretariat on Nov. 2 and 3, and at the Oddusuddan Divisional Secretariat Nov. 4 and 5. Including the fifth session held in this district in July 2014, thus far, a total of 301 people have submitted evidence to the Commission from Mullaitivu.

     

    During the four days of the November sittings, 166 new complaints were registered.

     

    To date, the Commission has received 19,761 complaints, inclusive of approximately 5,000 complaints from relatives of missing security forces personnel. So far, the Commission has inquired into 1,271 complaints, which are being analysed for further investigations through an independent investigation team.(KH/LLRC)
