All set for Sri Pada season

    December 01, 2014

The Police advise pilgrims to Sri Pada to refrain from taking alcohol, narcotics, musical instruments, polythene and plastic to the peak. They have also advised the public not to bathe in streams and rivers in the area, as several deaths have been reported during the last Sri Pada season.

Sri Pada season 2014/2015 will commence on December 6 with the dawn of Unduwap Full Moon Poya Day and end on Vesak Full Moon Poya in May 2015. Thousands of devotees make yearly pilgrimages to the mountain abode during the Sri Pada season.

The casket of relics and the statue of God Sumana Saman will be taken in a motorcade from the Galpottawala Sri Pada Rajamaha Vihara to the Nallathanniya Sri Pada Dharma Centre on December 7.

Meanwhile, the government has implemented several development projects along the Sri Pada route and Sri Padasthana to provide best facilities to pilgrims.
