    UN Human Rights chief to listen to all communities in Sri Lanka Featured

    The UN chief for Human Rights, Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein who is currently in Sri Lanka said that he would hold talks with representatives of all communities in Sri Lanka and would listen to what they have to say.

     

    Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday (06) was received by Foreign affairs Minister Mangala Samaraweera at the Bandaranayake International Airport and held discussions with the FM at the Foreign Ministry.

     

    Zeid speaking to media in brief said that he was delighted to be in Sri Lanka and he had been looking forward to coming to Sri Lanka.

     

    He stating that he will be having talks with the highest officials in the Government and also representatives of all communities said he would be listening to everything they have to say and look forward to very constructive discussions in the days to come.

     

    The High Commissioner will visit Jaffna and Trincomalee today (07 ) and tomorrow (08) where he will meet with the Governors and Chief Ministers of the Northern and Eastern Provinces respectively.

     

    He will also have talks with families of the war victims and local civil society members.
