    Three-year prison term if ballot papers posted on line, EC warns Featured

    Elections Commission chairman Mahinda Deshapriya says that government officials, who are casting their postal votes, posting the pictures of the ballot paper in social media after voting is illegal and can be sentenced to three years in prison.He was speaking at a media conference held at the Election Commission premises in Rajagiriyayesterday (31st).

    Deshapriya pointed out that it is regrettable that government officials have taken pictures of the ballot and posted on Facebook. If found, the offenders will be sentenced to a minimum of three years in prison.Elections Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya also said that action would be taken against the staff of the polling station if public officials take pictures and post them on social media.
