    Police arrest three for photographing the ballot

    Police have arrested three voters for photographing their ballot paper during postal voting.Two teachers of the Kekiriyawa police division and the Katugastota police division and a watchman of a Gampola school have been arrested in connection with the incident.

    On the instructions of the Election Commission, the Sri Lanka Police have commenced investigations into several persons who had photographed the marked ballot papers at the postal voting and released them to the social media.

    Elections Commission chairman Mahinda Deshapriya Thursday said the government officials, who are casting their postal votes, posting the pictures of the ballot paper in social media after voting is illegal and can be sentenced to three years in prison.
