    Govt. will fulfill its duties and responsibilities to build national reconciliation Featured

    President Maithripala Sirisena said that the responsibility of building national reconciliation in the country, will be fulfilled as a government with a great commitment while ensuring mutual understanding and trust among all communities.

    He made these remarks , speaking at the convocation ceremony of the Sir John Kotelawala Defence University held at the BMICH, yesterday (20).

     

    The Government has taken steps to establish an institution under the 19th amendment to the constitution to strengthen the national reconciliation process, the President said adding that at present this institution fulfills all its functions efficiently.

     

    The aim of the government is to fulfill its duties and responsibilities on national reconciliation process without leaving any room for blame, he said. He further said that every person should extend their cooperation to the government for this task.

     

    President Sirisena said that the government will also take appropriate steps to provide necessary facilities qualitatively and quantitatively for Tri Forces.

     

    The President also emphasised that all those who were involved in the war victory, will receive the government’s appreciation and honour today, tomorrow as well as in the future too and no room will be ledt to tarnish the image of the people who were committed to the war victory.

     

    The President presented special awards to graduates who had performed well.

     

    Major General Rohan Daluwatte – Chancellor of the Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Vice Chancellor – Major General Milinda Peiris and distinguished guests were present on the occasion.
