    Information Technology in schools a turning point in current education system

    President Mahinda Rajapaksa said the government's aim in introducing information technology in schools is to enhance the educational standard of the students in rural, urban and estate sector and to prepare the future generation who enter the world of tomorrow to win the world.

    The President expressed these observations while vesting with school children four Mahindodaya Technological Laboratories constructed in the Badulla District on Wednesday (03).

     

    The first Technological laboratory which was declared open yesterday by President Mahinda Rajapaksa was the Passara Bibilegama Maha Vidyalaya in Badulla.  The laboratory has a language lab with 20 computers, a mathematics lab, information technology lab with 40 computers, Nenasa Distance Learning Education Unit and  a laboratory for Advanced Level students.

     

    The President next visited the Gonakele Tamil Maha Vidyalaya in Badulla and vested the Mahindodaya Technological Laboratory established in the school with the  estate children.  The school where 850 children are studying commenced studies with respect to the science curriculum yesterday with the opening of the Mahindodaya Technical Laboratory.

     

    Thereafter President Rajapaksa, visited the  Passara Maha Vidyalaya and the Lunugala Ramakirshna Tamil Maha Vidyalaya in the Badulla District and declared open the Mahindodaya Technological Laboratories.

     

    At each school the President who received a rousing welcome, after vesting with the students the laboratories,  took time to inspect the laboratories.

     

    The President also engaged in friendly discussions with the teachers, the students, parents and the people of the respective areas.  

     

    Ministers Bandula Gunawardena, Nimal Siripala de Silva, S.B.Dissanayake, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and Deputy Minister Lalith Dissanayake accompanied the President. (KH)
