    President Hands Over Motorcycles to Hambantota District Government officers

    President Rajapaksa said that his Government believed in strengthening the public service. He said that he believed the public sector can do a better service to the people than the private sector. The workforce of the public sector has now come up to 14 hundred thousand. The President said that the public servants are the ones closest to the people and requested them to do their duty by them.

    The President expressed these views at a ceremony held to handover motorcycles to 5616 Filed officers in the Hambantota District at Hambantota Administrative Complex on Friday (07).

     

    Ministers W.D.J.Senevirathna, Prof.G.L.Peiris, Mahinda Amaraweera, Deputy Minister Wijaya Dahanayake, Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa, Public Administration Ministry Secretary P.B.Abeykoon, Hambantota District Secretary R.C.de Soyza were present on the occasion.

     

    The President thereafter visited the Hambantota Urban Council and inspected its activities and mingled with the staff.(KH)
