    SLFP extends support to 19A

    April 27, 2015
The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFI) will extend its fullest support to pass the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, the Opposition Leader Nimal Siripala de Silva said in Parliament today while participating at the debate on the 19A.
We want to get it passed.  It is necessary to get it presented with correct amendments.  We have placed confidence on President Sirisena and as such we will get the 20th Amendment passed in the future, the Opposition Leader said and urged everyone's support for it.

"We agree to limit the tenure of the Presidency to 02 terms. As the opposition, we contributed immensely by conducting several rounds of talks with the President, obtaining views of party members, the opposition as well as the public with regard to the 10th Amendment to the Constitution,he added.

This is a historical occasion. Some tried to become heroes in drafting legislation. But in the event we pass this, all of us will become heroes, he remarked..
