President Maithripala Sirisena directed the leaders of political parties to forward written submissions with regard to all amendments and recommendations for the new electoral system by 12 noon on Wednesday (13) to the Secretary to the President.
The Sri Lankan President made this announcement during a party leaders' meeting on establishing a new electoral system held yesterday at the Presdent's Office.
Party leaders who were present at the meeting expressed their position on electoral reforms such as allocation of multi-member seats, ensuring proportionate minority representation and several other matters.
All decisions are to be presented for final deliberations before the Cabinet on Wednesday.
