    Join hands in unity & friendship to take country forward – President

    President Maithripala Sirisena says all should join hands in the spirit of unity and friendship to take the country forward while putting aside hate, jealousy and hostility.

     

    “This is the foundation of all religious teachings as well” the President said addressing those who participated in the National Ifthar ceremony held at President’s House Monday evening ( July 07).

     

    The President said getting together to celebrate important religious occasions, irrespective of which religion one belongs to was an important step in the journey to build a Sri Lankan nation where all communities will enjoy peace, harmony, friendship and unity.

     

    A large gathering including Islamic religious leaders, Muslim community members from all parts of the country participated.

     

    Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Minister A. H. M. Fowzie, several other ministers, former Parliamentarians and members of the diplomatic corp. also attended the Ifthar ceremony.
