    President appreciates role played by GMOA to maintain a quality medical service

    Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena paid special attention to the professional matters of the Government Medical Officers.

    The President discussed issues related to doctors when representatives of Government Medical Officers’ Association met him at the Presidential Secretariat on Monday (07).

     

    The Government Medical Officers’ Association requested the President to provide solutions to their salary anomalies in line with the State salary policy. The President promised to pay his attention to the matter.

     

    During the meeting, the officers also detailed about the special programs proposed by President Maithripala Sirisena when he was the Minister of Health, in order to improve the quality of intern doctors.

     

    The Medical Officers’ Association commended the President for his commitment to create a drug-free Sri Lanka, and they came up with many suggestions regarding drug prevention programs and pledged to provide their full support in this endeavor.

     

    The Association also requested the President not to release the nicotine cubes in the custody of Customs which are imported into the country disguised as incense.

     

    President Sirisena paid keen attention to issues discussed at the meeting and emphasized the importance of the role being played by the Government Medical Officers’ Association in creating a quality medical service in the country.

     

    Dr. Anurudda Padeniya- President of the Government Medical Officers’ Association and several medical professionals participated in the meeting, President's Media said.
