Pope Francis Announces Visit to Paraguay, Bolivia and Ecuador

    January 20, 2015

Rome: Pope Francis will visit Paraguay, Bolivia and Ecuador on July, said today the official Radio Vatican website.

According to the site, Bolivian president Evo Morales confirmed in a communique the South American tour of the High Pontiff, who this Monday ended his trip to Sri Lanka and The Philippines.

Morales detailed that the Holy Father will first visit Paraguay, then he will go to Bolivia and in his last stop, he will visit Ecuador.

I still do not have precise information as to how many days will the Pope stay here, but we have to start preparations for his visit, assured the President.

Radio Vatican pointed that since December, 2014, on a petition by Morales, a high-level commission was put in place to coordinate the reception of Francis.

To this end was named the Minister of the Presidency, Juan Ramon Quintana, as representative on the part of the Government and the bishops Oscar Aparicio, Ricardo Centellas and Eugenio Escarpellini for the Episcopal Conference.

Juan Pablo II was the only pope that visited Bolivia, where he toured eight cities in 1988.
