The first phase of the largest water supply project in the Matale District - Visal Maha Dambulla water project is nearing completion, the Ministry of Water Supply and Daring revealed. The Project funded by the Indian Government by providing Rs.1000 million rupees will cover 175 Grama Niladari Divisions in Dambulla, Galewela, Naula, Kekirawa and Palugaswewa Divisional Secretariat areas.
According to the Ministry, a water purification plant is constructed close to the Mahaweli Dambulu-oya reservoir.
Under this project More water storage tanks will come up in Dambulla Dahiyakanda, Kiralagolla, Tholabugolla, Kandalama, Lenadora and Pelvehera areas.
