    Secretary Defence declares open Kotagala Town Development Project

    Secretary Defence and Urban Development Gotabaya Rajapaksa inaugurated the town development project of Kotagala during a ceremony there yesterday (19).

    Plans were drawn by the Urban Development Authority to modernize this up country town with added facilities in keeping with the small city development programme.

     

    Once completed, the town will boast of a new tea center, mini supermarket, restaurant, mini cinema and many other facilities. Roads will upgraded with proper pavements for the benefit of both motorist and pedestrians. The total project will be handled by the Urban Development Authority at a cost Rs. 1000 million.

     

    Arriving at the town Rajapaksa was accorded a grand welcome by the people and there upon proceeded to unveil a commemorative plaque signifying the commencement of the project. He also made it a point to spend time talking with those present at the occasion.

     

    During his visit he inspected work on the road and pavement construction taking place there and gave directions to the officials involved in the work.

     

    Minister of Livestock and Rural Community Development Arumugam Thondaman, Deputy Minister of Economic Development Muthu Sivalingam, chairman of the UDA Nimal Perera, local council members and a large number of people were present at the occasion. (MoU)
