    New Labour Office in Dambulla scheduled to open today

    The new Labour Office in Dambulla is scheduled to open with the presence of the Labour Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva and Minister of Public Services, Provincial Councils & Local Government Janaka Bandara Thennakoon on March 27.

     

    According to the Commissioner-General of Labour, Prabath Chandrakeerthi, the building is constructed at a cost of Rs. 60 million and can be utilized for different labour welfare works by employees of various private and semi-government institutions in Dambulla, Naula, Laggala and Wilgamuwa.

    The Commissioner-General of Labour further said that the new labour office was established in Dambulla mainly to avoid the inconvenience caused by the limited space available at the previous office in Naula.

    The newly built labour office has 11589 employees working in 840 institutions delivering labour services. It facilitates in the provision of EPF benefits, receiving labour complaints and taking actions to address them, conducting inquiries on employee safety in institutions and working for the welfare of 840 employees of 23 Wage Boards.
