World Habitat Day Celebrations under President's Patronage ^Featured

Sri Lanka celebrated the World Habitat Day 2014 on Monday (06) under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo.. A National Housing Policy for the country was also presented to the President by Wimal Weerawansa, Minister of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities at this national conference.

The World Habitat Day Colombo Declaration showing various development projects and their future activities as well as the World Habitat Day Souvenir too was launched.

The presentation of house ownership deeds for 500 persons from the Colombo, Kalutara and Gampaha districts, presentation of awards and certificates to the award winning dramas at the drama competition, opening of the art exhibition containing winning entries from the art competition held among school children as well as awarding certificates to winners at the essay competition took place at this national ceremony.

Minister of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities Wimal Weerawansa, Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna, MP Duminda Silva, Ministry Secretary P.H.L.Wimalasiri were present. (KH)
