Rs. 115 Million Compensation for 1218 Internally Displaced Families ^Featured

“I am the President not only for the South and North but for the entire country. Therefore, I treat everyone equally,” President mahinda Rajapaksa said.

The President was speaking at a ceremony held in Kilinochchi to award compensation amounting to 115 million rupees to over 1200 Internally Displaced families on Sunday (12). The move was taken under a programme to implement the recommendations made by the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC).

The President added that the government has done a significant amount of services for the welfare of people in the north and requested the public in the north to work collectively to secure the hard won freedom.

Ministers Douglas Devananda, Rishad Bathiudeen, Chandrasiri Gajadheera, Northern Province Governor G.A.Chandrasiri, Deputy Minister Siripala Gamlath, Parliamentarians Hunais Farook, Murugesan Chandrakumar, A.H.M.Azwere were present on the occasion.(KH)
