Singapore: Singapore has invested more than two thousand 600 million dollars in the Pasir Panjang terminal project, as part of the many actions to expand and improve its port system.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong during the inauguration of Phases third and fourth, stressed the importance of increasing the capacity of this installation, in order to maintain the country's position as the world's largest transhipment hub and to increase the maritime linkages with Asia, Europe and the United States.

The project includes the use of the latest port innovations, such as automated container yard and unmanned rail-mounted gantry cranes that will be supported by intelligent systems.

Singapore currently has 170 thousand workers in the maritime sector, which provides 7 percent to the Gross Domestic Product.
