    Police expand automated fingerprints system Featured

    Sri Lanka police have expanded the automated fingerprints identification system to all police stations and divisions island-wide.

    The new system was inaugurated December 29 at a function held under the patronage of Minister of Law & Order and Southern Development Sagala Ratnayake and Inspector General of Police, N. K. Illangakoon.

     

    The automated fingerprints system is a project of the University Of Colombo School Of Computing and the Forensic Fingerprint Expert of Police.

     

    The system will link 42 police divisions with the Criminal Investigations Department, Fraud Investigation Bureau, Police Narcotics Bureau and the Terrorist Investigation Department.

     

    Secretary to the Ministry of Law & Order Jagath P. Wijeweera and police officers including Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police, Gamini Nawarathne and distinguished guests participated in this occasion.
