    Sri Lanka Football team meets Bhutan at FIFA World Cup qualifier

    In the curtain raiser for the FIFA World Cup 2018 to be held in Russia the preliminaries are now kicking off with the first being at our home soil where Sri Lanka will take on Bhutan on Thursday 12th March, 2015. The kickoff is at 3.00 p.m. at the Sugathadasa Stadium, Colombo.

     
    The Sri Lanka Football which is ranked at 173 in FIFA ranking  will have an opportunity to qualify for the second round for the first time in the history of 75 years where the team will get an opportunity of playing 10 international matches in the second round of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers -2018 to be held in Russia.

     
    The National Football team is captained by Chathuranga Sanjeewa and Vice Captained by Nalaka Roshan.  Sri Lanka team is preparing to meet this challenge under the head coach  Nicola Kavazovic  together with National Coach Sampath Perera and assisted by Duddley Stainwall. The goal keeper coach is IP Mahinda Galagedara while the Manager is Mr. Balendra Anthony.
     

    The away match is played at Thimpu- Bhutan on the 17th March 2015.
